A new approach to character animation

Hello Everyone, I am Desmond but i like to be called creative king. i became fascinated with computers junior high school. Then, i assisted my school computer tutor in organizing documents with Microsoft Office Suite, for my school. My computer tutor seized every opportunity to comment on how impressive he thought my understanding of computer technology was. In light of this he suggested that i applied for the science course in high school so i can qualify to read computer science in college(University).
This however didn't materialize as my father wanted something else. He wanted me to read business and become an accountant. I guess you would be wondering if that is done, but here in Ghana, what your parents want is just as important as what you want for yourself. Things have change these days though.
My interest in 3d started when i completed High School. Growing up as a kid, i played a lot of games and watched many cartoons on television. I guess that is what spurred my curiosity of what drove these characters on the screen. Meanwhile the computer industry in Ghana was still at it's infant stage. As a person whose father wanted him to study business and become an accountant, an animation school wasn't an option, and even if it were there were none in Ghana then. There still are none.
The internet has been my school in computer programming and 3d character animation. I spend an awful significant percentage of my allowance on internet services (browsing in internet cafes). I read articles blog posts and anything that had something to do with 3d art and programming. Sometimes i downloaded free e-books on the subjects and read at home. My Passion for computers was boundless.
In programming i started with Microsoft Access and it's embedded Visual Basis for Applications (VBA), migrated to vb 6.0 and now .Net.
For 3d art, my first call was 3d max. The software was powerful, was considered an industry standard and all that, but unfortunately, i just couldn't find enough tutorials to appreciate it. I was introduced to the giant open source 3d animation software BLENDER. If you ask me i would say blender is the best open source 3d application out there, and even though most people wouldn't consider it one of the industry players, i can do anything with blender, that anybody using 3d max, Maya, Softimage XSI, or Lightwave, would do.
Blender is versatile and provides a lot space for customization. That is what makes it unique. I wouldn't want to bore readers with a lengthy introductory blog post, but for all who are interested in pursuing their ambitions 3d character animation whether as a professional, or an animation enthusiast, this is the place to be.
In my next posting i will talk about how programming orientation has may the world of 3d animation very easy for me.
